On Tuesday 18th February, the Skills Hub organised yet another of our highly successful Health & Social Care Employability Days at the City Library, along with our partners and Jobcentreplus.

This time the event was bigger and better than ever, thanks to all the hard work of our many partners, with 27 local employers attending to outline over 400 job opportunities which currently exist in and around the City, including roles in care homes, supported living accommodation and domiciliary positions out in the community.

The businesses present talked in depth about what they do and the types of roles they are looking to fill – from personal care through to catering and many more besides – not mention busting many of those ‘myths’ about what it is actually like to work in the care / health sector!

The hard work has continued following the event, with partners helping and supporting the almost 150 individuals who turned up on the day to be able to apply for the wide range of full and part time opportunities available.

Three weeks on and there is some great news, as we are now starting to find out about individuals who attended the event being informed about start-dates for their new career. We all wish them the very best for their futures.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along on the day and particularly a massive thanks to all of the businesses present – we couldn’t have done it without you!

If you couldn’t make it on the day, please keep an eye on our events page, to find out about future events you could get involved in, to help develop your skills and employment prospects.
